How do you all prepare for the week?!

Do more of what makes you happy.

What makes a Sunday morning so relaxing?! I just love Sundays & I love waking up and enjoying my coffee (not hungover) and feeling happy after a wonderful weekend.  As I stated in my post a few days ago, my brother is in the military and was able to come home yesterday! YAYY!

Last night we went to the Black Forest Inn, as a fam, and it was wonderful.   This place is an authentic German Inn and it is sooo cool.  When at a place, such as this, I feel it is important to indulge in the culture a little bit but still keep it under control.

Before I picked him up at the airport, I got an hour workout in and made sure to push it extra hard.  At dinner I had two glasses of German wine and had one potato pancake (there was no negotiating this one).  For dinner I had the special which was a juicy pork chop with plum sauce w/ a side of sauerkraut (only ate 1/2 and boxed the rest) & I subbed a side salad.

For the rest of the day I will relax, read your blogs, and drink coffee (& probs get a workout in). HAPPY SUNDAY!!

What do you all do on Sundays?!

Monday Motivation

I find it important to get to bed early on Sunday, and if you’re like me it isn’t hard after an eventful weekend. This morning I woke up feeling quite rested and started my day off with a huge bottle of water and a cup of black coffee (of course I like to add cream and flavor to it, but I like being slim better).  Next I decided the BEST way to start my week would be heading to Hot Yoga at Lifetime.

Sweating out all of the “indulgences” I indulged in this weekend and getting all loosened up for whatever this Monday would throw at me was empowering.

Do you all have any tips & tricks to start off OR end your week/weekends?

Get up & work for it.

I always tend to allow myself a little wiggle room on the weekends.  This weekend my indulgence was cupcakes.  I made Blue Moon cupcakes for a friends birthday and they were DELICIOUS (I’ll post recipe later).  I definitely had more than one and was feeling a little guilty this afternoon.  I felt a little crummy from the sugar and Saturday is my rest day so I was even more guilty! Therefore, I looked thru my file of motivational pictures and got my butt to the gym, which wasn’t easy. I feel much better & will be ending the weekend on a healthy, productive note.

Relaxation & a delicious [healthy] bedtime drink.

One of the pivotal moments of my day, is the time I get into bed & relax.  My muscles have worked hard & I have thought consciously about every thing I have put into my body [the coffee, the mass amts of water, & the nutrient filled foods].  All of this has taken a mental toll on my body, not including everything else that happens in a day.

Now it is time to relax, fall asleep, and let my body recover.  After all, a KEY point to weight loss AND health is getting LOTS of sleep.

My night time snack:

+ 1 green tea bag

+ steamed milk

+ 2 Truvia packets

Directions: heat milk & boil water. Let green tea bag steep. Add steamed milk and Truvia packets.

This not only curbed my sweets craving, it relaxed, warmed, and gave me some wonderful green tea benefits.

Good night fellow bloggers.

Morning Fitness Routine.

What are your favorite morning rituals!?

OR if you were like me and enjoyed being outside [during warmer weather], what are you doing instead?!

I love mornings.  There is something about waking up & starting fresh for the day that gets me motivated.  Lately, now that it is cold here in MN, I do my morning cardio inside.  I was DREADING this because I thought it’d be boring and I’d get sick of it.  Well on Monday, last week, I decided to go at 10am. I turned on the TV and The Today Show with Kathie Lee and Hoda had just started.  I did an hour on the elliptical without getting bored! So for the rest of the week I went at 9am or 10am every day. I enjoyed this morning routine so much I continued with it this week.

Depending on the day, I woke up had a cup of coffee and a little breakfast (today was Chobani yogurt and flaxseed) and then went at 9am (Kelly & Michael) or 10am (The Today Show) to workout and watched an hour of these morning shows and burned about 500-600 calories.

[Chobani plain is the best choice, NO sugar added, so I add one packet of Truvia and some pumpkin spice.]

The Skinny on Cocktails.

My question, for anyone who comes across this, what are your favorite “skinny” cocktails?! (OR cocktails in general) or what do you think of cutting out alcohol to lose weight fast?

’tis the season for friends, food, and family! & if you have friends and family like mine, there will be plenty of drinks involved.  I love my share of cocktails but since November 1st I made a vow to myself. Limit drinks & implement a healthy way of drinking. I seem to go out and wake up with the worst stomach ache EVER!

My SKINNY favorites:

  1. red wine
  2. vodka/water (I LOVE Stoli O, Stoli Blueberry, or various absolut flavors). If they, don’t have flavored vodka, I ask for a fruit garnish
  3. vodka/soda (same flavors as above) with fruit garnish, lemon lime or orange (as shown in the bottom picture!)
